Effects of Electrification of Particles and Viscous Dissipation on Unsteady Two-phase Flow over a Stretching Sheet

Journal Title: Asian Research Journal of Mathematics - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

Aim: The unsteady boundary layer incompressible fluid (gas) with suspended particulate matter (SPM) with special attention to electrification of particles over a stretching sheet has been investigated. The rate of stretching is important because the rapid stretching results in sudden solidification destroy the properties of the expected outcomes. Study Design: The governing partial differential equations have reduced to a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations with the help of similarity transformations. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Mathematics, SKCG College, Paralakhemundi, Odisha, India, between February-2015 to February-2017. Methodology/Approach: The ordinary equations are solved numerically by using Runge-Kutta 4th order method coupled with shooting technique. Results: It is worthy to note from graphs and tables that, the electrification of particles enhances the temperature of the particle phase and the negative value of skin friction coefficient indicates the solid surface exerts a drag force on the fluid. The rate of heat transfer at the surface and skin friction increases with increasing values of electrification parameter M. Thermal boundary layer thickness of fluid phase increases but thermal boundary layer thickness of dust phase decrease for the enhanced values of diffusion parameter ε. Practical Implications: The heat transfer cannot be ignored in the application of industrial processes involved with high temperature regimes. So the good knowledge of it will help to design pertinent equipments. Social Implications: The mechanical properties of the final products are influenced by the stretching rate as well as the rate of cooling. These areas have potential contributions in the industrial sector, which plays an important role towards the progress of the society. Originality: The consideration of electrification of particles absolutely different from the electrically conducting fluid that has been investigated by many authors. Thus, the research work present in this paper is original and new in the area of stretching sheet problems.
