Effects of Modes of Picture Presentations on Senior Secondary School Students’ Achievement in Christian Religious Knowledge
Journal Title: Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
The study investigated the effects of two modes of picture presentations on senior secondary school students’ achievement in Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK). Three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. Christian Religious Knowledge Achievement Test (CRKAT) was used to collect data for the study. Means, standard deviations and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were used to answer the research questions and to test the null hypotheses. Findings from the study showed that presenting pictures concurrently during instruction improved achievement in CRK more than when presented as supplement to the lesson. Also, female students performed better than their male counterparts when pictures were combined with verbal information while male students did better when pictures were presented as supplement to auditory explanation. The study recommended using pictures synchronously during instruction.
