EFFET DE LA VARIATION DE LA TEMPERATURE DE L’EAU SUR LA CROISSANCE DU BLACK BASS (STATION DE PISCICULTURE DE LA DEROUA, FKIH BEN SALAH, MAROC). EFFECT OF WATER TEMPERATURE VARIATION ON GROWTH OF BLACK BASS. DEROUA FISHERIES FARM (FKIH BEN SALAH, MOROCCO).
Journal Title: Journal of Water and Environmental Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 0
Abstract
This work consists to evaluate the effect of the temperature on the growth and feeding behavior of the largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) which is a warm-water fish. It was conducted at the hatchery of Deroua fisheries Station. Each of a six circular tanks of 1.5 m3 of water received five individuals of largemouth bass with a weight ranging between 64 g and 185 g. Two water temperature ranges were selected (16-18°C and 21-24°C) for this experiment. The second range was thermally regulated using a central water heater system. The results showed that: • The variation of temperature has a highly significant effect on the growth of largemouth bass (α= 0,003). In effect, an increase in temperature of 3°C doubles the daily average growth of largemouth bass. Thus, the average daily growth rate at a temperature of 16-18°C was 0,935 g/day whereas it has reached 2.11 g/day at a temperature of 21- 24°C. • The duration of consumption of the same quantity of forage fish by the Black bass at temperature of 16-18°C is higher than that at a temperature of 21 to 24°C. • The largemouth bass consumes daily an average quantity of 5,1% of its fresh body weight at a temperature of 16-18°C, Whereas its feeding needs reach 8.7% of its fresh body weight at a temperature of 21-24 ° C.
