Journal Title: Fizjoterapia Polska - Year 2017, Vol 17, Issue 2
Abstract
The aims of study was to compare the efficacy of FED therapy and a programme of analytic kinesiotherapy including elements of the FITS concept and to assess the efficacy of FED as functional treatment for scoliosis. Material and Methods. The study enrolled 30 patients (30 girls) aged 11-16 years x = 14.2, SD – 1.4 with Gruca’s grade 2 idiopathic scoliosis (Cobb’s angle of 30-60°), who were enrolled on the basis of a radiograph. The participants were randomisedinto an experimental group and a comparison group of 15 persons each. The experimental group attended a complete FED programme, while the comparison group was subjected to a standard analytical kinesiotherapy programme including elements of the FITS concept. That was single blind trial, subjects were familiar with the course of therapy without the knowledge of the operation of scoliosis Results. This analysis showed that the FED method is more effective compared to the standard treatment. Conclusions. The FED method should be incorporated in the treatment of children with grade 2 scoliosis (Cobb’s angle of 30-60°) in view of superior therapeutic efficacy compared to standard therapy.
