Abstract
Ecologization of banks is discussed, as a recent and growing trend on the modern market of financial services. This reorientation towards ecology may be a major factor in securing long-term competitive advantage of financing institutions. This paper presents determinants of this eco-shift observed in banks. The Respect Index was also analysed in the study of the degree of involvement in the process of ecologization of modern banks. Then the economic efficiency of the green banks was examined versus the banking sector in Poland
