El papel de la formalidad en el acceso al crédito para las micro y pequeñas empresas
Journal Title: REVISTA DE ANÁLISIS ECONÓMICO Y FINANCIERO - Year 2021, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Understanding financial constraints is critical to analyzing the role of high barriers in micro and small businesses in developing countries. This research identifies the role of formality in micro and small businesses in access to credit. To analyze formality in Peruvian companies, this research used the license variable. Company-level data called the National Business Survey (ENE), are provided by the National Institute of Statistics of Peru (INEI). This article uses the Instrumental Variables (IV) method and finds that when firms are licensed, they are more likely to have access to credit (from formal to informal), on average. On the other hand, these findings confirm that the real effects of licenses increase between 15 and 19 percentage points in access to credit and reduce financial restrictions for MYPES by 16 percentage points.
