Electricity Distribution Effectiveness
Journal Title: Acta Energetica - Year 2015, Vol 25, Issue 4
Abstract
This paper discusses the basic concepts of cost accounting in the power industry and selected ways of assessing the effectiveness of electricity distribution. The results of effectiveness analysis of MV/LV distribution transformer re-placement are presented, and unit costs of energy transmission through various medium-voltage line types are compared. The calculation results confirm the viability of replacing transformers manufactured before 1975. Re-placing transformers manufactured after 1975 – only to reduce energy losses – is not economically justified. Increas-ing use of a PAS type line for energy transmission in local distribution networks is reasonable. Cabling these networks under the current calculation rules of discounts for excessive power outages is not viable, even in areas particularly exposed to catastrophic wire icing.

The Optimal Choice of Electrochemical Energy Storage Parameters
The possibility of using energy storage in a power system is being highlighted increasingly often. Its operating mode or manner of use is called the “storage usage strategy”. One of them, program operation, was selected...
A Method of Power System Static Stability Analysis
The paper reports on a study of changes in a power system’s operating parameters under a rise in its load. The results of these and similar studies may lead to an expansion of current views on a grid’s stiffness, its sta...
Identification of High-resistance Earth Faults in Medium Voltage Networks Using Higher Harmonics
One way to detect line-to-earth arc faults and high-resistance faults in compensated medium voltage networks is based on the criterion of reactive power of higher harmonics in zero sequence voltage and current components...
Development Strategies for Electric Utilities
Electric utilities are of key importance for the national economy. Many research institutions deal with issues of the power sector to find an answer to the question, which of the developed strategies to ensure energy sec...
Determination of Connection Capacity in the HV Closed Network by the use of a Black-box Optimization – a Case Study
The current legislation imposes an obligation on power system operators to regularly determine and publish connection capacities of transmission and distribution network nodes. Currently, the coherent node method is used...
