Electro Alert : An automatic meter reading system with GPRS facility

Abstract
The digital technology, the wireless communication, and the communication have significantly changed the electric meter generation from Traditional Meter to Automatic Meter. A high percentage of electricity revenue is lost to power theft, incorrect meter reading and billing. The major problem is that the bill will double after a certain limit, which is unaware by common people. And the usage of electricity is increasing day by day and the resources are getting limited too. The suggested system has come up with solutions which address all above mentioned problems. Prepaid electricity meter with a liquid crystal display (LCD), that communicates with the user’s android device via GPRS facility. The android application analyses the electricity usage by the reading and then notifies the user with the current usage, estimated bill amount, average usage to maintain the bill amount etc. A back up of the information is maintained in a database.Help reducing electricity consumption and increasing natural resources utilization. Billing can be based on near realtime consumption. With this service a common people can monitor and analysis their own electricity usage. The proposed system analysis the electricity usage by reading and then notifies the user with current usage, estimated bill amount, average usage to maintain the bill amount.
