EMOTIONAL COMPONENT OF CONFLICT DISCOURSE IN TERMS OF ENGLISH-UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION

Abstract
This article highlights the features of conflict discourse emotional component in terms of English-Ukrainian translation on the material of TV show “The Resident”. The research defines the structure of conflict situation in the English everyday discourse, indicates the specifics of the conflict realization and points out the features of rendering conflict interactions in English-Ukrainian translation with regard to the necessity to preserve the emotional component. The semantic basis of the conflict discourse functioning is represented by the lingual means of “hostility” in conflict interactions which have three stages: driver, escalation and termination. It is outlined that the emotional component of conflict discourse should be rendered in English-Ukrainian translation of conflict interactions. For this purpose, a number of translation transformations are used, modulation being the most frequent one.
