Empirical Research on Application of Virtual Teaching and Learning Objects in forms 4 And 5 for eveloping of Abilities to Perform Arithmetic Operations

Abstract
The pedagogical experiment was attended by 98 pupils and 6 teachers (control and experimental classes). Kolmogorov-Smirnov criterion was applied to identify normality of distributions between control and experimental classes. To determine learners’ results, ANOVA and DUNKAN methods were applied. The results of the carried out pedagogical experiment confirmed that application of virtual teaching and learning objects significantly improves pupils’ abilities in all mathematical activity areas: the progress of the participants of the experiment were statistically significantly higher. Comparing with research data of control classes, the best results were obtained in the areas of writing of sequence of numbers (11.34%) and finding of part(s) of numbers (10.70%); slightly lower performance was in arithmetic operations (9.07%) and identification of components of arithmetic operations (9.07%); the smallest changes were recorded in the areas of solving equations (7.92%) and equations and inequalities (6.18%). Pupils’ achievements are affected not only by virtue of the fact of application/non-application of VTLO’s, but also by the teacher’s internal position with regard to them, the teacher’s pedagogical style and responsibility for the quality of education. Virtual teaching and learning objects, focused on the shaping of arithmetical images, not only help pupils to deepen and expand their knowledge, but also improve their ability to perform arithmetic operations
