EMPIRICAL VERIFICATION OF DRIVERS BEHAVIOUR IN ROAD ACCIDENT SITUATION

Abstract
The study shown in this article attempts to identify the diverse reactions of drivers who witness a road accident and are faced with circumstances where providing first aid is necessary.Verbal simulation techniques were performed on 88 respondents (49 men and 39 women) – drivers with a varied level of driving skills and different first aid experience. For the purpose of this article the interviewed drivers were asked to declare the most possible way in which they would react to three hypothetical situations: (1) when first aid is neces-sary (without giving the interviewee any details about the accident they were involved in); (2) when the interviewee has to decide on the order in which he/she will rescue the casualties; (3) when the interviewee is in a rush for a very important meeting when he/she witnesses a road accident.
