Employee Engagement – Individual and Organizational Perspective
Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej w Poznaniu - Year 2017, Vol 74, Issue 3
Abstract
Faced with the growing requirements imposed by the business environment, companies direct their attention to the role of human capital in developing their market advantage. Making full use of employees’ potential is closely related to their engagement in the work they perform. Consequently, the aim of the article is to identify the determinants and effects of employee engagement and indicate actions conducive to its formation, taking into account the perspective of the organization and the employee. The analysis is based on the literature and available studies. It was found that in order to successfully foster employee engagement, relevant measures should be taken at the organizational and individual level, which should be viewed as complementary. However, given the realities of the modern labour market, the initiative in this area should be taken by companies.
