Employment as a factor of social activation of people with disabilities is threatened by social exclusion

Abstract
One of the most important groups exposed to social exclusion are unemployed and disabled people. In 2014, the West Pomerania Region took a shameful third place in the country, in terms of the level of unemployment. This situation strongly impinges on the labor market of people with disabilities. The participation of disabled people in social life is largely determined by their activity in the labor market. Professional engagement gives them opportunity to mark their presence and demonstrate their skills and qualifications. Besides the support in terms of vocational guidance and employment services (job matching), there is a strong need to create favorable conditions for professional development and competency improvement among people with disabilities. There are a number of tools supporting the process of professional activation of the unemployed and disabled people, thus preventing their social exclusion.
