Enamel Microhardnessafter Bleaching with 16% Carbamide Peroxide Gel

Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Dental Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 2

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of carbamide peroxide gel on enamel microhardness (Vickers hardness number). 20 extracted human premolar teeth were selected. Teeth were divided into 2 groups. Group A- Control (no bleaching), Group B- (16% CP bleaching agent). All specimen were bleached for 21 days with 16% carbamide peroxide for 4 hours. Microhardness testing was done on baseline (prior to bleching), on 21st day (post bleaching).Statistical analysis: Statistical analysis was done by paired t test, Multiple Comparison: Tukey Test and (0.01) is considered as level of significance. After bleaching all samples from all the groups showed decrease in micro-hardness.
