Environmental constraints and rational opportunities of the sustainable development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector

Abstract
Subject of research – a set of theoretical and methodological aspects and practical measures for taking into account environmental constraints and rational opportunities of agricultural growth of Ukraine in the light of the concept of sustainable development. Purpose of the research – justification of environmental constraints and rational opportunities for sustainable development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector. Method, methodology of work. Theoretical basis of the research are the terms of eco¬nomics, environmental economics, theory of sustainable development, institutional analysis. The methodological basis of the research consists of a set of general scientific and special methods, in particular, a systematic approach, a dialectical method of cognition and comparative-legal analysis, a historical approach, a method of cause-effect relations, and economic and statistical methods. Results of the research: structuring of environmental constraints and rational opportunities for agricultural growth of Ukraine in conjunction with Sustainable Development Goals is done; certain parameters of the state of the domestic agricultural sector are analysed; conclusions and recommendations regarding the prospects of agricultural growth of Ukraine are done. Practical implications. Results of the research can be applied in the field of economics and public administration in the decision-making process for the development of the agricultural sector, rational nature use and environmental protection. Conclusions. The research demonstrates the need for more intensive development and modernization domestic food complex and production of agri-food products with a higher share of added value. We have identified the types of environmental constraints and ra¬tional opportunities for agricultural growth of Ukraine. These constraints and opportunities for sustainable development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector are detailed in the system of strategic planning measures at different levels of economic development. For proper development of rational opportunities for agrarian growth of Ukraine it is necessary to de¬velop institutional support for investment projects deep processing and explore all possible sources of financing for the sustainable development of agricultural production. Excessive export orientation of agriculture requires measures to implement structural changes. High potential of the agricultural sector requires the implementation of measures for rational land use and the restoration of the capacity of land fertility and the prevention of its reduction.
