Environmentally friendly sanitation mats made of fiber obtained from hemp grown on remediated areas

Abstract
As part of the project „A new method of restoration of degra- ded land in the area of the Lignite Mine Konin using the cultivation of hemp” an agricultural reclamation of land after lignite strip mine is carried out. Reclamation is based on the cultivation of two pioneer plants: hemp and alfalfa. Plants are mowed and the resulting biomass is plowed down to speed up the reconstruction of a humus layer in the soil. Assumptions of the project predict that after a period of rec- lamation, cultivation of hemp will continue on post-mining areas hemp biomass will be used for purpose of environmental protection. The article presents research on the use of hemp fiber in the production of disinfection mats which, in contrast to previously used solutions are completely biodegradable, not harmful to the environment.
