Establishment of the Polish administration in Western Volyn in 1920

Abstract

The article reveals the process of legitimization the state and mechanism of functioning of the Polish administration in Western Volyn in 1920. Found that the regional level of the Polish state administration in this period was introduced temporary political and administrative entities and county authorities. Studied primary measures of the administrative apparatus Second Polish Republic in the region and society response to short-term replacement Polish Bolshevik government in summer 1920 in the set period was establishing a new administrative system which had organized its activities according to the needs of all nations of the province. Given the multi-ethnic structure and its western Volyn and religious richness, performance goals significantly hampered. Part of society duly accepted the new political realities and tried to adapt to them, the other hauled organizational work for the destabilization of administration. Ukrainians who were in numerical majority, tried to achieve equality in political and economic life of Poles. Some organization want to worked with Ukrainian peoples on the traditional principles «free peoples with free peoples». Some Jews and Germans, especially during the Polish- Bolshevik war, distinguished cooperation with the Red Army. Affluent Czechs and Poles predictably supported the administrative apparatus of the Second Polish Republic.
