ESTIMATION OF GROUNDWATER ENDANGERING ON THE BASIS OF TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTICS OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL BOREHOLES WITH THE WELL LOGGING METHODS
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2013, Vol 456, Issue 456
Abstract
Boreholes and the resulting wells, piezometers or borehole heat exchangers are an intrusion into the groundwater resource, and their inappropriate construction can result in high damage to quality and quantity of groundwater resources. Technical regulations and rules dictate a responsible use of our groundwater resources, but unfortunately, the compliance from various sides is not always accurate. Especially, the recent observed boom for renewable energy from the Earth's heat shows that strict control of such constructions is essential for the benefit of groundwater resources for future generations. In this article, the technical analyses of wells and piezometers based on the borehole geophysical methods are presented, the typical defects of the underground infrastructure are listed, as well as examples of the analysis are discussed.

This article presents renewable groundwater resources in porous, fractured, fractured-porous and fractured-karst groundwater media. The study area is located in the K³odzko Land. Groundwater resources were estimated usin...
RARE EARTH ELEMENTS IN SELECTED CLAY DEPOSITS OF THE POLISH LOWLAND (NEOGENE)
The paper presents the content of rare earth elements in the Neogene deposits of clay raw materials in the Polish Lowland. Rare earths have been studied in red and green raw clays, and in carbonate nodules. Based on the...
Modelling of the effects of CO[sub]2[/sub] injection into carboniferous aquifers of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (Poland)
The paper focuses on the problem of geochemical sequestration of CO[sub]2[/sub] in saline aquifers of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB). It describes the relevant models of gas–rock–water interactions, and discusses t...
MATHEMATICAL MODELS OF DUAL TRANSMISSIVITY AND EXAMPLES OF THEIR APPLICATION IN INTERPRETING PIEZOMETRIC TESTS CONDUCTED IN THE BEŁCHATÓW LIGNITE MINE
Piezometric tests such as the slug test or PARAMEX test usually result in observing damped oscillations or exponential movement of the water level. However, during some tests, a bi-exponential response of the water table...
Hydrogeological conditions in salt dome areas and their significance for the safety of economic exploitation of salt structures
The paper presents the results of hydrogeological investigations of five salts domes in the Kujawy region. The salt domes are situated in active groundwater exchange zones and they affect the surrounding environment. Thi...
