Estudio del comportamiento en fases tempranas de somaclones seleccionados de bajo porte en el híbrido de plátano FHIA-21
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2001, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Banana and plantain (Musa spp.) represent a main crop and a tropical food product on a world level. The present study was carried out in the acclimatization phase with the objective of proving the effectiveness of the selection realized for the height of the plant on plant material that was treated with physical mutagens agent (gamma radiation Co60 source) to induce variability. The treatments used were five (5) somaclons selected previously in the fields with low height, which were multiplied in vitro and were adapted during 45 days, evaluating in this moment various qualitative and quantitative characters. These studies permit the height of the plant as well as the length and width of the leaf to be used as plant selection markers of low height in the early phase in the plantain hybrid FHIA-21.

Effect of foliar fertilization on Ananas comosus L. Merr. cv. ‘Cayena lisa’ acclimatization
The low survival and slow growth of in vitro pineapple plants (Ananas comosus L. Merr.) in acclimatization stage limit the use of biotechnological techniques for it propagation. The aim of this study was to determine t...
Risk assessment of Horizontal Gene Transfer in bacterial contaminants of sugarcane in vitro cultures
The horizontal gene transfer is a phenomenon that must be taken into account when performing risk evaluation of genetically modified plants, because these ones could transmit by this method the artificially incorporated...
In silico identification of DELLA proteins in plants of Coffea arabica L. and Ananas comosus L. Merr
Gibberellins control various aspects of plants growing and development, including seed germination, stem elongation, leaves expansion, flower and seed development. They are also involved in phase changes in some species,...
Use of Temporary Immersion Systems for the multiplication of nodal segments of Dioscorea alata L. in the clone 'Pacala Duclos'
In order to develop efficient propagation protocols, temporary immersion systems composed by two glass flask with 5 000 ml of capacity were used to multiply nodals segments from yam clone ‘‘Pacala Duclos’’. The working...
Response of Phaseolus vulgaris L. lines in late sowing
Knowing the response of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) to the environmental factors present in the different sowing seasons has been recognized as an important criterion in the genetic improvement for tolerance to...
