Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 12

Abstract

The present study intends to evaluate compatibility between old and classic building with different styles and compare them altogether. The goal of the study is to evaluate the change of useand compatibility of the old and valuable building – Khosravi Leather Factory to Tabriz Islamic Art University. The main question of the study is that in which of compatibilities the levelof people’s relationship and bond to the building is more than the other? In order to answer the question a classic-style building is chosen as thecontext. There is another building with four styles of post-modern, classic, modern and high-tech beside each classic-style building and this is considered for compatibility. These styles from the aspect of compatibility understanding index are evaluated in five levels – strongly disagree, disagree, undifferentiated, agree, strongly agree and in range of 1-5 point. Point 1 indicates the lowest and point 5 indicates the highest value. The “analytic-descriptive” method applied in this research. The data collection method is a combination of field and library method using questionnaires. The statistic sample of the study includes 66 M.Sc. architecture students ofBroujerd Islamic Azad University.59 M.Sc.architecture students answer the questions according to Morgan table. 24 female and 35 male students answer the questions at the same time. The questions designed based on display of buildings’ photos that shown in the questionnaires and distributed to the students. The hypothesis of the research is that the buildings with the same style are more compatible than other styles. After analysis it is clarified that the primary hypothesis is correct and thecompatibility in post-modern, modern and high-tech styles is negative with classic architecture . It is also concluded that building with classic context is only compatible with classic style.
