Evaluation of Language Learning Strategies of Students Learning Turkish as a Second Language according to Teachers’ Views

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to identify the situation regarding Turkish language learning strategies of students learning a second language and to give an overview about the language learning strategies of the students. The study was conducted with qualitative research approach. Interview method is used as a data collection tool. Six questions were posed to teachers in the form of interviews. Descriptive analysis technique was used for the qualitative data analysis techniques to analyze of the data. Proceeding from the answer given by the teacher with interview achieving results and has tried to draw conclusions from the findings. This research was carried out through a working group composed of officials’ 6 teachers in Erciyes University in teaching Turkish to foreigners Centre for Continuing Education courses. Located teachers in the study group was selected using cluster sampling methods and purposes. According to the results achieved from the findings, cognitive strategies directly from their language learning strategies; the indirect strategy of affective language learning strategies are the most commonly used strategy by students. Students are able to establish mental connections; was found to be poor issue rules and practices, analyzing and questioning, forecasting and commentary bring competencies; planning their work, regulation and evaluation. In addition, students was found to be in good condition with anxiety and motivation case against Turkish; in terms of asking questions, responding to questions, etc. cooperate with others competence.
