Evaluation of methods used in vivo to estimate the transfer of amino acids and other substrates into the cells of mammary gland
Journal Title: Journal of Animal and Feed Sciences - Year 2010, Vol 19, Issue 2
Abstract
mino acids and other substrates into the cell in vivo using arteriovenous concentration difference and volume blood flow data with their recalculation according to kinetic model of the system: capillary - interstitium - cell. With the use of literature data and the own results the authors analysed the present feasibility of this method in the studies of mammary metabolism in productive ruminants The model estimates were compared with independent measurements (with 13С-amino acids), the verifying experiments were conducted and some unresolved problems and errors of interpretation were investigated. The method is recommended to study the adaptive shifts in the activity of amino acid transport into the mammary secretory cells during milk formation in various nutritional states.

Responses of mammary amino acid metabolism and aminopeptidase N gene expression to duodenal soyabean small peptides and infusion of free amino acids in lactating goats
The duodenal perfusion technique was used to determine whether small peptides were more effective than free amino acids (FAA) for milk protein synthesis and to investigate the effects of infusing soyabean small peptides...
Interdependence of the peripheral metabolism of glucocorticoids and thyroid hormones under calorie deficit in rats at different ages
The joint effects of energy restriction and age on adrenal glucocorticoid synthesis, liver signalling and liver thyroid hormone metabolism were examined. Adrenal type 1 11β-hydroxylase expression was chosen as a marker o...
Possibility of utilization of two Aegilops sp. to enhance the nutritive value of triticale
Study was undertaken to determine the possibility of improving the nutritive value of triticale by crossing it with two species of Aegilops. Materials for this study comprised of 5 triticale recombinants with Aegilops cr...
The relationship between fertility and intermediate optimum type traits in Polish Holstein-Friesian cows
The purpose of this study was to find early indicators of cow fertility. Genetic correlations of two types of conformation evaluations, routine and modified, with reproduction traits were estimated. Data consisted of typ...
Seasonal changes of the chemical composition of cheese obtained from the milk of indigenous Polish breeds of sheep
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of breed Coloured Mountain Sheep (CMS), or Podhale Zackel (PZ) and month of the grazing season (May or August) on the chemical composition of milk and ‘oscypek’ cheese....
