Journal Title: Uluslararası Dis Hekimligi Bilimleri Dergisi - Year 2024, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
Objective: This study aims to determine patients' satisfaction levels after using removable dentures prepared by 5th-year clinical students of Dentistry and to contribute to the clinical application training of prostheses in line with the feedback received in this way. Materials and Method: The study was conducted at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Prosthetic Dentistry Clinic, and 47 removable denture patients treated by 20 clinic students participated in the study. Feedback was received from patients who had been using dentures for 6 months using forms prepared by the OHIP-14 oral health impact profile, and their satisfaction with their dentures was evaluated by clinical students who examined them. The data analysis determined the percentages of the responses given to the statements at each level (n %) using the SPSS 27.0 package program. Cross-tables and Pearson chi-square tests were used to evaluate whether there was a relationship between qualitative variables. p values were considered statistically significant when calculated less than 0.05. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the participants' pronunciation (p = 0.002) and taste (p < 0.001) while using their prostheses, as well as their feelings of tension (p = 0.022) and the status of their expectations from the prosthesis being met. When the participants' previous use of prostheses and the new prosthesis were evaluated, no significant difference was found in percentage between the 47 participants (p = 0.887). Conclusion: By making a prosthesis that meets the patient's expectations, their life standards can be improved and their stress and tension can be reduced.
