EVALUATION OF SPECIAL STUDY MODULES WITH LOGİC MODEL: EIGHT YEAR EXPERIENCE

Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Special Study Modules (SSMs) provide opportunities for students to develop their learning skills and to develop areas of interest. It was firstly introduced at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 2008-2009 educational years. This study used logic model approach to evaluate a special study module which was performed in 2008-2016 educational years. Methods: The Logic model was used to build the evaluation. The evaluation components are resources, activities, outputs, outcomes and impact. The feedback of 1893 students in 2008-2016 period were evaluated. Students’ questionnaire form consisted of 11 questions. Data from faculty members was collected by a questionnaire composed of open-ended questions. Results: Logic model is an usefull model for programme development and evalution. Over the years, considerable increases in the ratios of students who evaluated SSMs as very beneficial (73.3% in 2008- 84.3% in 2016). Conclusion: The results showed faculty members and students positive thoughts about SSMs and their support for innovative strategies.
