Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
In the process of Turkish Modernization which started in the Ottoman period, the foundations of Modern Turkish Music were laid. The tendency to use the Traditional Turkish Music instruments around the idea of creating a national language was seen in different forms in some first generation composers. The use of quartet chords and traditional musical instruments, also found in the first generation Modern Turkish Music composers such as Ahmet Adnan Saygun, Necil Kazim Akses and Ulvi Cemal Erkin, turned into a system proposal by Kemal İlerici. It is important to evaluate this system that has been put forward tangibly in terms of Contemporary Modern Turkish Music composer and it is possible to make conclusions about what the contribution of the system can be presented by Contemporary Modern Turkish Music in the light of these evaluations.
