Examining the Use of Family Counseling Techniques in School Psychological Counseling and Guidance Services

Abstract

School and family appear as an inseparable whole. Psychological counselors working in schools often work with families during the counseling process. School psychological counseling services are carried out for students and families. It is a process that allows the individual to get to know his general and special talents, interests, strengths and weaknesses and the physical and social environment in which he lives. Family counseling includes professional interventions that are offered to members of the family or the whole, including strategic techniques and practices to solve the family's problems, to demonstrate the functionality of the family system and to become a harmonious union. It is thought that integrating family counseling techniques in the school psychological counseling process will facilitate the discovery of the student's family structure in the school process. Therefore, in this review, the use of family counseling theories and techniques in school psychological counseling is examined.
