Exploration of an integrated screening model of symptom-trait-eye movement for high-risk population of obsessive-compulsive disorder under the framework of item response theory

Abstract

Objective To explore the symptom-trait-eye movement integration screening strategy in high-risk population of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Methods The eye tracking experiment was used to analyze the eye movement characteristics and the rule of eye movement response of high-risk population of OCD when answering the symptom-trait test. An integrated screening model of “symptom-trait-eye movement” was preliminarily proposed for high-risk population of OCD. The statistical methods included independent sample t test, heat map and domain model construction. Results The eye tracking experiment found that: ①There were statistical differences between the OCD high-risk population (high-risk group) and the control population ( control group) in indicators of the first overall fixation time (P < 0. 05), saccade amplitude (P < 0. 05) and the total duration of visit in the item-stem zone (P < 0. 01). The high-risk group had a longer overall fixation time in the item-option zone (P < 0. 05), while the control group had a longer first fixation time in the item-stem zone (P <0. 05). The saccade amplitude of the high-risk group was larger than that of the control group (P <0. 05). ②In terms of test items, symptomatic items were more likely to induce eye movement responses than trait items. Within the framework of trait items, ideal point items were more likely to induce eye movement responses than dominance process items. In addition, compared with short items, long items seemed to induce more saccadic differences. The model verification results showed that the multi-dimensional recognition model integrating symptom-trait-eye movement had a high recognition rate, and the total effectiveness reached 92. 5% . Conclusion The multi-dimensional screening paradigm integrating symptom, trait and eye movement is effective and feasible, and can effectively assist psychological workers to make more accurate screening for high-risk population of OCD.
