Exploring the Awareness of Handloom Carpet and Carpet Printing, Evaluation of Designs Inspired by Flying Birds: A Survey

Abstract
In this study, an attempt has been made to identify the awareness of on handloom carpet and carpet printing among the people. Further, this study evaluated the designs among the people to draw their opinion and know their attitude on designs for screen printing. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed among the students and employees across all the discipline and offices. Out of 120, 110belonged to the female community and 10 belonged to a male. The age of the respondents was were grouped into three as 16 to 22, 18 to 24and above 26. The awareness of on handloom carpet and carpet printing were identified based on 6 variables on a five- point scale, such as Yes, No, opinion or No opinion. For further study, i.e., “woven handloom carpet printing by using screen printing technique” purpose, 25 sheets were designed and scrutinized by the same respondents mentioned above. Design sheets were developed on the basis of placement of motif, color combination, the uniqueness of design. The respondents rated from excellent to good for all the design sheets developed. Thus, on the basis of the result, it can be concluded that the people desire for the new series in carpet designing which is screen printed handloom carpets
