Factors of risk and consequences of pregnancy in adolescence

Abstract
A bibliographic review was carried out with the objective of describing some risk factors and consequences of pregnancy in adolescence. For its development, 25 studies of different authors were reviewed, available in the Virtual Health Library, where synthesis and analysis of the most relevant data were made. Biological and psychosocial risk factors were described, in the individual, family and social order, such as early initiation of sexual relations, early sexual maturation, low academic level, inadequate sexual education, unemployment, poor family planning skills, loss of significant figures family, stress, crime, alcoholism and predominance of romantic love, among others. Some consequences were also described for both the mother and child, such as haemorrhage, prolonged labor, maternal and perinatal death. Adolescent pregnancy was considered a concern worldwide, with repercussions also on the quality of life of the family and community.
