Family as the Environment of a Child's Formation

Abstract

The first part of this article is about the family, which is as we all know, the first and fundamental environment of a child’s formation. We present the definitions of a family and the processes that form it. We had a close look at the present types of partner-relationships that are contemporarily recognized as families. We have also described the necessary conditions for proper family functioning. The second part of the article is the analysis of our own research and experiences with the families having a single child. This research describes briefly the types of such families and their dealings with the only child. In our discussion on the topic of family as the formative environment that has to create a new member of the society we have particularly looked at families with an only child, wanting to check how are they functioning with the main emphasis on what kind of growing up environment is a single child family. The test subjects (persons) responses to the questions in the survey stated that they had direct or indirect relation to their approach to upbringing and they are showing that they are closely interested in the development of their child. In this, they form a close and well working family. This is directly influencing the positive formation of the child and subsequently forms a good growing environment for a young person. Following article is the first step in the future discussion on the single child families. These families are often presented as incomplete and unsuitable growing environments. Research presented in this article suggests to the contrary, and gives the starting point to further analysis in this subject.
