Fatigue Degradation of Materials as a Tool for Damage Assessment
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii "Dunarea de Jos" din Galati. Fascicula IX, Metalurgie si Stiinta Materialelor - Year 2008, Vol 31, Issue 1
Abstract
Damage assessment of components or systems is strongly related to the way components fail. Thus, an appropriate understanding of failure degradation of components is necessary. Furthermore, most of the failures are related to fatigue cracks that develop on components under service. This paper is concerned with the fatigue degradation of metallic components. Its emphasis is on the different ways in which the fatigue damaging mechanisms occur, being the main responsible for the failure of components. This paper has two main sections: one section deals with the fatigue mechanisms and their definition; the second section focuses on the failure analysis of components affected by those mechanisms.

The Process Involved in Making the Medals
This paper presents a method that was experienced in the laboratory to manufacture a medal. There are three general techniques used to make medals: repoussé, striking and casting. Serigraphy technique is the most chosen...
Cladding by Welding with Hard Alloys
The paper presents the results of a research on the role of cladding by welding support of continuous casting plant. Emphasizing that plating leads to outer layer the study presents a complex of properties favorable for...
Use of Ecological Paradigm in Material Degradation Engineering
The necessity to move from the conventional technical-technological paradigms to the ecological paradigm is perfectly justified. The degradation of materials is defined as a negative phenomenon, whose study should be ext...
Coatings Systems: Chromium Carbide, Nitride and Carbonitride
The process of the chemical deposition from vaporous implies the adsorption of the mobile atoms (monomers) on the substrate surface, their migration with embryos and stable nucleus formation, followed up by further growt...
Influence pressure and size particle to extraction by CO2
Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) is an efficient extraction technique for the separation of various organic compounds from herbs, or more generally, from plant materials. These proporties of SFE make the products mor...
