Fatigue life of the S960QL steel welded joints

Journal Title: Bulletin of the Military University of Technology - Year 2014, Vol 63, Issue 4

Abstract

Abstract. During fatigue tests connectivity, welded steel XABO960 achieved a significant reduction in the durability of welded samples compared to samples taken from the parent material. For an explanation of the reasons for this phenomenon, residual stress and fatigue tests microfractography breakthroughs were studied. The study confirmed the occurrence of the weld area of substantial positive inclusions, residual stresses, and a high silicon content and sulphides which reduce the fatigue life of the welded joints [1, 2]. The explanation of these adverse events will be the subject of further research. Keywords: fatigue life, welded joints
