Journal Title: International Journal on Hospitality and Tourism Research - Year 2022, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The fear of the pandemic recently would affect people’s travel behavior. COVID-19 does not only affect tourism but also the global economy. It is imperative to determine the prevalence of adverse mental health issues in the tourism industry during this pandemic and mitigate its psychological risks and consequences. To date, no studies have been conducted on travel behavior, which includes the psychological effects of COVID-19 in Batangas Province. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between the fear of COVID-19, travel anxiety, attitude, and behavior intention in “travel bubble” destinations. The researchers used a descriptive survey method among the 217 respondents. The majority of the respondents are single males, millennials, and attained a bachelor’s degree. It was revealed in the study that Males have greater fear and travel anxiety while females have a greater assessment of travel intention. The study also proves that there is a significant relationship between fear, travel anxiety, risk attitude, and travel intention confirming that the greater the fear, the greater the anxiety and risk while the more positive the travel intention, the lesser the risk. The researchers proposed an action plan based on the result of the study.
