FEM Modeling and Weight Reduction of a Solar Energy Driven Racing Car Chassis
Journal Title: Acta Technica Jaurinensis - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
The paper demonstrates the strength analysis of a solar energy driven racing car chassis with two different mechanical modeling, beam-bar and shell modeling. Weight reduction is also a key point in the stages of car design. Reducing the weight of the car results in higher fuel efficiency and usually better dynamical properties. The weight reduction was performed with three different materials, steel, aluminium-alloy and laminated fibre reinforced composites. The paper shows the complete mechanical modeling process from construction of the mechanical model to the analysis of the laminated composite chassis structure and the results of the weight reduction.

Stability Analysis of an Assembly Process Using Simulation
This paper deals with an assembly process of batteries with cell holder. The operation involves snap-fitting phenomenon, which is a mechanical stability problem. The structure of the cell holder is modelled with 2D flex...
Framework for the Packaging Supply Chain of an Automotive Engine Company
Automotive industrial groups consider the impacts of packaging very important, mainly focusing on the cost effectiveness and environmentally conscious nature thereof. In the literature, the packaging supply chain is not...
Overview of the Finite Element Method
By using scalar and vector potentials, Maxwell's equations can be transformed intopartial differential equations. Generally, the partial differential equations can be solved by numerical methods. One of these numerical m...
Measuring the Efficiency of Parallel Discrete Event Simulation in Heterogeneous Execution Environments
This paper deals with the experimental testing and verification of the earlier proposed load balancing and coupling factor criteria for the conservative parallel discrete event simulation in heterogeneous execution envir...
A Review of Current Challenges in Production Planning
For manufacturing companies growing customer expectations, shortening product life cycles and increasing product variant numbers mean great challenges. Overcoming these is a major task for production planning, which is r...
