Field response of Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden plants obtained by micropropagation and seeds
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2017, Vol 17, Issue 4
Abstract
The use of plants obtained by in vitro culture could contribute to satisfy the demand of products derived from this plant in the agricultural sector. However, the response of plants in the field is not well known. The objective of this work was to perform an analysis of the growth indicators that characterize the response in the field of Eucalyptus grandis micropropagated plants in comparison with plants derived from seeds. In a field study over four years, the height and diameter of micropropagated plants from nodal segments and botanical seeds were measured. A sample of plants corresponding to 10% of the total of the two plantations was evaluated. The plants produced by biotechnological methods have a growth dynamics in height and diameter of the stem superior to the plants propagated by seeds. Therefore, it reach their agricultural value in a shorter period of time.

Effect of substrate type on the acclimatization of in vitro plants of Bambusa vulgaris
Bambusa vulgaris var. vulgaris has several uses. The biotechnological propagation can be an alternative to reach the demand of planting material. This investigation was aimed to determine the influence of substrate type...
Purification of phytotoxic metabolites from the filtrate culture of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense gcv 01210 (race 1)
Panama disease, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense, is considered a destructive disease of economic importance in the genus Musa. The culture filtrates of the pathogen have been used to differentiate cultivars...
Growth, regeneration and radiosensitivity of sugarcane callus (Saccharum spp. Hybrid var. "SP 70-1284") treated with
Calluses in growth of sugar cane, variety SP 70-1284, were radiated with a source of 60Co. The studied doses were between 10 and 80 Gy. The affectation of the Gamma radiation source 60Co in the growth of the callus and...
Influence of different factors on the germination of encapsulated somatic embryos of Saccharum spp hybrid var Cuba 87-51
With the objective to regenerate plants from sugarcane somatic embryos encapsulated in sodium alginate hidrogel different factors was studied. The addition of coconut water, GA3 (0.5 mg.l-1) and 6-BAP (0.2 mg.l-1) to the...
Comparison of three total RNA extraction methods from cacao leaves
The establishment of a method for extracting total RNA in plants that meets the required criteria of purity and yield is a critical step for subsequent molecular studies, especially in recalcitrant plants with naturally...
