Abstract
The publication of Oresta Losic's book «The Phenomenon of Freedom and French Postmodernism» (Lviv, 2016) is a notable event in the philosophical environment of Ukraine and in the national philosophical tradition in general, as it illustrates the intention to reintegrate Ukrainian philosophy into the broad context of contemporary European and world philosophy. The review, in addition to reviewing the structure, conclusions and main report of the work, also outlines some of the issues that their work puts forward, and which appear relevant to the issues of legalization. In particular, these are the problems of the specificity of the interaction of modern and postmodern at the level of correlation of discursive practices, the concept of freedom as a mental phenomenon of Western civilization and the concept of freedom as a subject of postmodern paralogy, the problem of the forms of existence the philosophical ethos of postmodern. The review deals with the interpretation of O. Losik's body of ideas and texts by J.-P. Lyotard, and found difficulty in interpretation of freedom of postmodern discursive practices. It is determined that the book captures significant potential for further development of the stated issues.
