Functional and radiological outcome of unstable distal radius fracture treated by conservative or volar buttress plate
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Treatment of distal radius fracture is controversial; there is no single definitive treatment method that is considered the standard of care. It is important today to determine the nature of the fracture and to describe the bio-mechanism involved than to link diagnosis and treatment. This study involved total 50 patients, 18 cases were operated 32 were managed conservatively. Treatment to be received was decided by the patients themselves after thorough counseling about pros & cons of each modality, according to their financial status, activity level and associated comorbidities. Residual deformity PUS, RDT and RD in operative group were 11.11%, 5.55% and 11.11% respectively while in conservative group PUS, RDT and RD were 12.5%, 22.50% and 25.00% respectively.
