gap engineering in two-dimensional photonic quasicrystal with twelvefold symmetry

Abstract

Photonic quasicrystals are special class of aperiodic crystals , which can exhibit photonic band gaps, But the lack of periodicity in the quasiperiodic structures make impossible the determining a unitcell for the calculation of the band gap. We have simulated the two dimensional quasicrystal with twelvefold symmetry by using R-Soft simulation and we have used the supercell for the calculation of photonic band gap and have extracted band structures for the four stage.Simulations results show that changing the cells radius and refractive indices of structure dielectric materials, change the width of the band gaps and their number and range of the wavelength of the incoming light to quasicrytal structure.
