Journal Title: UcoArte. Revista de Teoría e Historia del Arte - Year 2021, Vol 10, Issue 5
Abstract
This article analyzes the carving of a Christ with the cross on his shoulders, with a round shape, that the proto-Baroque sculptor Gaspar Núñez Delgado (ca. 1555-1606) made in 1575 for the VII Duke of Medina Sidonia, and which is his first documented work . Apparently, it was arranged in the chapel of his palace in Seville, along with two other sculptures that the nobleman commissioned him, determining a new iconography in the city. An identification proposal is made
