generation expansion planning considering environmental emission problem
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 12
Abstract
This paper presents a model for generation expansion planning (GEP) considering amount of CO2 emission generated by future electricity power plants. In the planning procedure the cost of generation unit's construction is an important factor for investors. But it shouldn’t be the only factor for generation expansion because of environmental problems caused by fossil fuel units that have lower construction cost. Therefore imposing some limitations on planning problem is necessary for decreasing the amount of greenhouse gases propagation. This research introduces a method of planning to solve some challenges in the expansion of renewable technologies.
