GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCES AT F1-LAYER HEIGHTS UNDER DIFFERENT SOLAR ACTIVITY CONDITIONS OVER NORILSK
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2019, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
We analyze the influence of geomagnetic disturbances on the electron density Ne at Norilsk ionospheric station (69° N; 88° E) at F1-layer heights (120–200 km). For the analysis, we have selected 25 moderate and weak geomagnetic disturbances for two seasons — spring and fall — of 2003–2014. Using the Ne values obtained from measurements made with the Norilsk digisonde during this period, we analyze Ne variations during geomagnetic disturbances in spring and fall for a long period of time. We determine the effect of spring-fall asymmetry occurring in all solar activity phases and manifesting itself in a significant decrease in the electron density during the main phase of fall storms at all heights in comparison with quiet days: up to 2.6 times at a height of 200 km and slightly less at lower heights. This phenomenon is not observed during spring disturbances: Ne variations are much weaker.

CORONAL JETS AS A CAUSE OF MICROWAVE NEGATIVE BURSTS
We have investigated the cause of three “isolated” negative radio bursts recorded one after another at several frequencies in the 1–17 GHz range at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory, Ussuriysk Astrophysical Observatory, and...
PECULIARITIES OF 630.0 AND 557.7 NM EMISSIONS IN THE MAIN IONOSPHERIC TROUGH: MARCH 17, 2015
Peculiarities of 557.7 and 630.0 nm emissions observed in the second step of the magnetic storm main phase at the mid-latitude observatory Tory (52° N, 103° E) on March 17, 2015 are compared with the changes in ionospher...
HEURISTIC MODEL OF SOLAR X-RAY SPECTRUM ACCORDING TO SATELLITE DATA FOR GEOPHYSICAL APPLICATIONS
Model and computational algorithm for recovering the X-ray component of the solar spectrum based on GOES XL (0.1–0.8 nm), XS (0.05–0.4 nm or 0.05–0.3 nm) and SDO QD (0.1–7 nm) channels data are presented. The model based...
PECULIARITIES OF SPORADIC VARIATIONS IN DENSITY AND ANISOTROPY OF GALACTIC COSMIC RAYS IN SOLAR CYCLE 24
In this work, we have processed data from the global network of neutron monitors and muon telescopes by the global survey method to study variations in the density and anisotropy of galactic cosmic rays during Forbush de...
On possible relation of earthquakes with the sign change of the interplanetary magnetic field radial component
This work is devoted to an experimental study of the possible relationship between earthquakes and interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) variations. For the analysis, we use world and regional catalogs of earthquakes and a...
