GESTÃO DA PRÁTICA DOCENTE: O ENSINO DA MATEMÁTICA NA EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR

Abstract
Given the high number of failures in mathematics in Higher Education Institutions and the difficulty historically presented by students, a detailed study on the teaching practice of this subject becomes necessary, identifying the predominant aspects, from the viewpoint of the students themselves, contributing to a good management of the teaching practice. It is important to take innovative significant practices for the development of this subject into account, as well as to analyze mathematics from a philosophical view, going beyond repetitive practice, addressing several questioning ways of thinking and doing. This philosophical approach allows the student to question issues related to their academic and professional practice. Listening to what students envision from a good mathematics teacher in higher education is important as it shows that mastering the content taught is not enough, one must be aware of various aspects that contribute for a teaching way closest to social management.
