Governmentality and what next?: Are we doomed to governmentality?

Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of possible transformation of contemporary form of power which was described by Foucault as governmentality. The first part offers a general introduction to the problem of governmentality and biopolitics in Foucault’s thought and discusses the most important consequences of Foucault’s concept of governmentality. The second part analyses and compares two reinterpretations of governmentality created by Maurizio Lazzarato and Wendy Brown and focuses on possible ways of overcoming the regime of governmetality.<br/><br/>
