GRAMMATICAL CATEGORIES OF TYPE AND TRANSITIVITY OF VERBAL UNIVERBS

Abstract
The objective of the paper is to solve the problem concerning the relevance of grammatical characteristics to alternative nominathemes of «word combination + elliptic univerb» type. The peculiarities of the basic linguistic unit — nominatheme — and its manifestations give grounds to consider the problem from two viewpoints: from the word-formative point of view and from the morphogenetic one. The object of analysis is the univerbation process resulting in verbal univerbs appearance. The subject of the study is a group of univerbal verbs formed according to the traditional model whose essence is as follows: the stem of a dependent component of a word combination is the one imitating a derivative stem; the independent component is synthesized in a univerbalization affix. The paper uses both descriptive and structural approaches. The result of the study reveals the relevance of grammatical characteristics of speech manifestations of the nominathemes of the specified type. Conclusions. Verbal univerbs as well as their corresponding verbal word combinations are the forms of an abstract lexical unit called nominatheme; the grammatical categories of aspect and transitiveness of verbal univerbs depend directly on the specified analysis of nominathemes whose verbal manifestations they are; the grammatical relevance of doublets of each specific nominatheme is stipulated etymologically. The practical application of the results can be seen in improving such university courses as «Principles of Scientific Linguistic Research» and «Modern Russian Language. Morphemics and Word Formation».
