Groundwater level monitoring in wetland areas – observations in the Kampinos National Park

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2009, Vol 436, Issue 436

Abstract

Groundwater monitoring system of the Kampinos National Park has been working as KNP II network continuously since 1998. This article presents data taken from observations in 20 piezometers situated in two wetland areas of the park. Trend lines were calculated to characterise groundwater changes in a 10-year period. The results have confirmed the complexity of factors affecting groundwater level in these areas. There is no region with a significant lowering (14 piezometers) or increasing (6 piezometers) of groundwater level. Seasonal changes of groundwater level are closely related to the amount of precipitation. Water level changes were taken into consideration in the light of predicted climate changes.
