Growth of Dental Sciences literature in India: A Scientometric Analysis

Abstract
This study analyse the research activities of dental sciences in India during 1997-2016 as reflected in Web of Science database, by search string like Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine was used. A total 3098 records are retrieved from the web of science database and exported to the MS-Excel. Based on the total publications, the study investigate the India’s publications’ relative growth rate and doubling time, impact of top 20 journals and India’s top 20 research organizations. The study reveals that, there is an increase in the number of publications during this period i.e.0.78% in 1997 and 20.32% in 2016. Journal of clinical paediatric dentistry is occupying the 1st place with 191 publications in top 20 journals and Oral Oncology is the highest 22.7% of citations. 26.12% of the publications published in International collaboration with USA. The mean value of doubling time is 2.3.
