Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an acute life threatening clinical syndrome that is characterized by an uncontrolled activation and proliferation of the cells of monocyte/ macrophage lineage secondary to various inherited or acquired disorders of immune function1,2.
