Journal Title: Eye Science (Yanke Xuebao) - Year 2020, Vol 35, Issue 6
Abstract
[Objective:] To explore the holistic nursing for children with retinoblastoma treated by chemoreduction therapy. [Methods:] All 26 children with retinoblastoma admitted to Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University were recruited, and the nursing measures for children during chemotherapy were reviewed and summarized. [Results:] All 26 patients successfully completed the 3-day chemotherapy. Few children were complicated with nausea, loss of appetite and other common digestive tract reactions. None of the 26 children experienced adverse reactions such as phlebitis, stomatitis, or serious complications such as renal toxicity and bone marrow suppression during chemotherapy. [Conclusion:] According to the characteristics of children with retinoblastoma, it is necessary to deliver individual holistic nursing receiving chemoreduction therapy, which is successfully completing chemotherapy.
