Hybrid Approach for Detection of Hard Exudates
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
Diabetic Retinopathy is a severe and widely spread eye disease which can lead to blindness. Hence, early detection of Diabetic Retinopathy is a must. Hard Exudates are the primary sign of Diabetic Retinopathy. Early treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy is possible if we detect Hard Exudates at the earliest stage. The main concentration of this paper is to discuss techniques for efficient detection of Hard Exudates. The first technique, discusses Hard Exudates detection using mathematical morphology. The second technique, proposes a Hybrid Approach for Detection of Hard Exudates. This approach consists of three stages: preprocessing, clustering and post processing. In preprocessing stage, we resize the image and apply morphological dilation. The clustering stage applies Linde-Buzo-Gray and k-means algorithm to detect Hard Exudates. In post processing stage, we remove all unwanted feature components from the image to get accurate results. We evaluate the performance of the above mentioned techniques using the DIARETDB1 database which provides ground truth. The optimal results will be obtained when the number of clusters chosen is 8 in both of the clustering algorithms.

A Novel Image Encryption using Memetic Differential Expansion based Modified Logistic Chaotic Map
Under this paper, the primary conditions of a modified logistic chaotic map are created with the help of memetic differential expansion. In the beginning, the color image is broken down into different channels like red,...
Communication Disconnection Prevention System by Bandwidth Depression-Type Traffic Measurement in a Multi-Robot Environment using an LCX Network
In this paper, we propose and develop a method for determining the transmission amount of each mobile robot connected to a network constructed with a leaky coaxial cable (LCX) by using broadcast packets. Tele-operation o...
A Study of Retrieval Methods of Multi-Dimensional Images in Different Domains
Multiple amount of multi-dimensional images are designed and most of them are available on internet at free of cost. The 3D images include three characteristics namely width, height, and depth. The images which are creat...
A Fuzzy based Model for Effort Estimation in Scrum Projects
This paper aims to utilize the fuzzy logic concepts to improve the effort estimation in Scrum framework and in turn add a significant enhancement to Scrum. Scrum framework is one of the most popular agile methods in whic...
Non-linear Dimensionality Reduction-based Intrusion Detection using Deep Autoencoder
The intrusion detection has become core part of any network of computers due to increasing amount of digital content available. In parallel, the data breaches and malware attacks have also grown in large numbers which ma...
