„Ich tanzte, um warm zu werden...“ Metafiktionalität in Josephine. Aus der öffentlichen Biografie der Josephine Baker von Dieter Kühn

Journal Title: humanistica 21 - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 1

Abstract

Analysis of Josephine by Dieter Kühn’s has been based upon the following premises: 1. Biography of Kühn is not a traditional biography, in which the author focuses on presenting authentic episodes from the life of the artist, Josephine Baker. The term contemporary literary biography is more appropriate in the case of Josephine, because it balances between fact and fiction (science and art). The writer therefore gives up chronological presentation of events for the meta-fictional reconstruction of reality. 2. Irony as comic technique (especially ironic comments and questions) is here to surrender criticism of media, entertainment industry, as well as criticism of modern society.
